Get familiar with widgets


Widgets are small, independent web applications that you can install and use on your mobile device. They enable one-click access to your favourite services and content online.

Your device has preset widgets installed and you can download more from the Internet. The available widgets on your device may vary depending on your location.


Add items and default widgets to your home screen

To modify your home screen to suit your mood, you can add widgets and items to the home screen.

  1. When in the home screen, select Options > Edit content.
  2. Choose an empty slot on the screen. Tap it once and select Add content.
  3. Select the application or widget from the list.
    • You can add Calendar, E-mail widget, Music player, Share online, Favourite contacts and Shortcuts. The favourite contacts and Shortcuts are fully adjustable and you can choose the contacts, applications or bookmarks you want to show on the home screen.

Tip! By adding the favourite contacts to your home screen, you can have several contacts directly on your home screen, and quickly make calls or send messages to the contacts, view the contacts' web feeds, or access the contact information and settings.


Default widgets

Your device has a preset range of default widgets which you can add to your home screen. Available default widgets may vary depending on your location.

    • Clock/Profile - Manage the clock and alarms. Change the profile to suit your situation.
    • Shortcuts - You can freely choose which shortcuts from your device’s content to show on your home screen.
    • Facebook - Update your status and keep up with your friends’ news.
    • Email Widget - Receive your e-mail on your home screen.
    • Top Contact widget - Communicate with your favourite contacts.
    • Share online widget - Share your media online.
    • Calendar - Keep up with your life.
    • RSS feed - You can receive RSS feeds of your choice straight to your home screen.
    • Music player/Radio - Control your music player.
    • YouTube - Search and access the latest YouTube uploads.
    • BOINGO - Enables global Wi-Fi roaming.

In addition to the default widgets, there are additional third-party widgets which may also vary depending on your location. For example, the AccuWeather widget brings the latest weather forecast to your home screen. You can also use different news services’ widgets and access online shopping with the Amazon widget.

You have several ways to find widgets for your device:

    • The Ovi Store application on your device.
    • The Ovi Store at http://store.ovi.com.
    • Websites of service providers and third-party widget developers and service providers.
