Installing Home Media Server software on your PC

In order to start managing, synchronizing or backing up your home network's shared media files, you need to first install and set up Home Media Server software on your compatible PC.

First, download Home Media Server software from www.simplecenter.com/nokia and follow download instructions. After you've downloaded the software application, start installation by double-clicking the file.

Follow the installation wizard and select options as necessary in order to finish the installation. After the installer has finished, select Finish to run Home Media Server software application.

After the application starts, you will be guided through the initial settings. You can change these settings at any time by clicking the application's Settings button. After the settings are done, you're ready to stream, sync and transfer media files just by a few presses of a button.

Transferring media files between your PC and mobile device

You can easily transfer media files between your mobile device and PC with Home Media Server. In order to do this, Home Media Server software must be installed and running on your PC. After you've set up the application, your mobile device can interact with your PC via a wireless network connection.

You can also copy media files from a compatible PC to your mobile device by using a UPnP connection. Press the Menu button on your mobile device and then select Gallery > Home Network.

After this, the Home Network view appears and a list of devices is presented. Your compatible PC should appear on the list. Select your PC from the list and you will be presented with a view of the folders that include shared media files on the PC. Browse the files and select the file you want to copy to your phone. When you're done, start copying by selecting Options > Copy to phone or Copy to memory card. (In Nokia N78, N80, N95 8GB and some other devices this needs to be done by selecting Home Media > Browse > Play on device).
